After two electrifying days of on and off-track training, we are proud to extend our warmest congratulations to all of our drivers who shone and conquered the 2023 Lucas Oil Scholarship Shootout. Despite the prize money, all drivers who completed the program received the same invaluable education and training, further solidifying our title as the Lucas Oil SCHOOL of Racing, where our goal is to advance each driver’s learning.
With 20 of the most talented drivers competing in the field, it was no easy feat for our judges to determine the cream of the crop. But after two hours of intense evaluation, our judges named the standout drivers who demonstrated not only speed but also their ability to apply instructor feedback, excel in media interviews, exhibit precision and consistency, demonstrate mechanical empathy towards their vehicles, and master the intricacies between multiple cars – all vital skills for a rising professional race car driver.
We are ecstatic to announce João Vergara as the Grand Prize Scholarship recipient, who will embark on a FULL season in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series and compete for a whopping $250,000 scholarship towards US F4, USF2000, or IMSA TCR.

Also gracing the Scholarship Shootout podium were Helio Meza, who will receive a half-season in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series, Adam Brickley who will race in a full Lucas Oil Winter WarmUp Series, and Hudson Schwartz who will compete in half of the Lucas Oil Winter WarmUp Series.
Once again, congratulations to all of our talented drivers who showcased their skills over these two exhilarating days. We are honored to welcome them into the exclusive fraternity of Lucas Oil Scholarship Shootout competitors.
